How Menopause Became My Awakening
My name is Monika Reimann.
I am over 60 years old.
Menopause opened me up to a new level of feeling blessed and grateful.
Yes, this is not a typo… but let’s start at the beginning.
Escaping the Wall
I was born behind the infamous Berlin Wall, under the oppressive regime of East Germany — a place ruled by fear, restriction, and indoctrination.
But even as a young girl, I dreamed of freedom. I longed to see the world, to taste life without constraint.
At just 18 years old, I made the unimaginable decision: I escaped. Alone.
Crossing the heavily guarded border was my first great leap — a moment where I had to trust only my instincts and intuition. I had nothing left to lose, so I began living moment to moment, following what felt joyful, alive, and real.
That journey took me across the globe. I discovered stunning places, met extraordinary people — but what struck me most was this:
The only true barriers were inside me.
Emotional walls. Old fears. Familiar patterns I didn’t yet know how to release.
A Lifelong Practice
Over the last 30 years, I’ve immersed myself in ancient healing practices:
Yoga, Pranayama, Mindfulness Meditation, and Bodywork.
I’ve studied with masters, healers, and shamans who helped me peel back the layers and reconnect with my essence.
Then came menopause — and with it, a whole new rite of passage.
The Menopause Shift
At first, it felt like my body was betraying me.
I woke in soaked sheets, unable to sleep. My periods grew heavier, hot flashes unbearable. My emotions were raw and volatile.
Living in a tropical climate only amplified the discomfort.
Who was I becoming?
At times, I hardly recognized myself.
But this time, I had tools. And a deeper trust in life.
So I chose not to resist.
I shifted my mindset. I turned inward. I let my body become my guide.
Discovery
What I discovered was profound:
My symptoms weren’t signs of decay — they were signals.
Messages from deep within, asking me to release, to soften, to heal.
When I listened, I found unresolved emotional patterns — not just from my childhood, but echoes of ancestral stories I was still holding in my cells.
And then something beautiful happened:
I stopped fighting my body. I befriended it.
Menopause became a mirror — not of loss, but of transformation.
A sacred chance to turn old beliefs into embodied wisdom.
To align with the synchronicity of life and create from a place of deep authenticity.
Now I Guide Others
As a result of this transformative journey, I started guiding others through their own transformation.
As a therapist, I support women seeking natural, compassionate ways to enhance their well-being — physically, emotionally, and spiritually.
I’ve helped hundreds of women navigate this transition with grace — releasing years of pain, confusion, and shame that too often surrounds the menopause journey.
And that’s why I’m so thrilled to be part of the upcoming 7-day luxury “Radiant Menopause” Retreat.
Together with a team of world-renowned therapists, I’ll be holding space for women ready to step into their next chapter — not with fear, but with power, softness, and sovereignty.
