Healing doesn't end when you leave.

The retreat plants the seed.
The Continuum tends the garden.

The work you begin at The Place is too important to leave unsupported when you return home. Our Structured Aftercare Programme extends the clinical architecture of your retreat – psychiatric oversight, psychotherapy, and integrative practice – into the weeks and months that follow your stay, with the same rigour and personalisation you experienced in Bali.

The session framework

Your weekly clinical programme

Every week, structured, supervised, and personally calibrated

Each aftercare week is built around five anchoring sessions – held remotely with The Place team and governed throughout by psychiatric and medical oversight. Session notes feed into the clinical review cycle and inform formal progress reports at each milestone.

S1

1× weekly · Psychiatric

Psychiatric Oversight Session

Structured session with our in-house psychiatrist - clinical progress review, medication management where applicable, risk monitoring, and care plan adjustment. The same psychiatrist who held your intake assessment in Bali. This is formal psychiatric care - not a check-in.

Trauma integration
Presence cultivation

Live-guided via secure video · somatic observations reported to clinical team

S5

1× weekly · Integrative

Personal Growth · Introspective Development · Core Energetics

One session per week from three pathways depending on your phase of healing - the Eastern inner development practices from The Place, continued remotely.

Personal Growth

Builds life-forward momentum – the way of the heart over the limited dominion of the mind.

Introspective Development

Deepens mindfulness through meditation, Ayurveda, and Tantra – addresses body, mind, and spirit.

Core Energetics

Reconnects body, emotion, and aliveness — the embodied sense of who you are becoming.

Pathway chosen based on clinical phase · integrative observations feed into clinical review

"Lasting change is not an event. It is a process that requires witnessing, support, and clinical courage over time."

— Jean-Claude Chalmet, Founder · The Place Retreats

3-6 Weeks

Consolidation

Stabilising retreat gains. Re-integrating into daily life with nervous system support and weekly clinical anchoring. The somatic and psychotherapeutic work is held – not left to fade.

9-12 Weeks

Integration

Continuing to embed and live the shifts begun in Bali. Patterns addressed in retreat are tested by real life – and held with clinical support. Both Western therapy and Eastern practice continue weekly.

24 Weeks

Sustained transformation

Transformation that lasts. Sustained, documented change across every domain – with The Place team at your side throughout. For complex trauma, personality patterns, and long-standing dysregulation.

Our recommendation

We recommend a minimum of 6 weeks for most guests returning from a retreat stay – and 12 or 24 weeks for those working with complex trauma, personality patterns, or long-standing emotional dysregulation.

Clinical governance

Psychiatric & medical oversight throughout

The same clinical architecture as your retreat - extended into your life at home

The aftercare programme does not operate on goodwill alone. It is governed by the same joint psychiatric and medical oversight that defines care at The Place – with formal progress reporting, clinical observations, and the authority to adapt your programme in real time.

Co-Lead

In-House Psychiatrist

Conducts all weekly psychiatric sessions. Holds medical responsibility for the full programme. Issues progress reports and adapts the care plan – the same psychiatrist who held your intake and discharge in Bali.

Co-Lead

Clinical Manager (MD)

Co-governs alongside the psychiatrist. Coordinates Western therapists and Eastern practitioners – integrating therapeutic and medical feedback between formal reports.

Delivering

Psychotherapy Team

Your retreat therapist or aftercare clinician. Session notes feed into the clinical review cycle – nothing operates in isolation. Psychotherapy and psychiatric oversight are one system.

Delivering

Integrative Practitioners

Breathwork and integrative leads report somatic observations to the clinical team. Embodied responses – how the nervous system is responding week to week – are part of the clinical picture.

Written Progress Reports

Structured clinical documents at each milestone – psychological progress, symptom change, and treatment response across all modalities.

Clinical Observations Log

Ongoing between-session observations informing care plan adjustments before the next formal review.

External Referral Letters

Where needed, our psychiatrist issues formal referral letters to your home-country clinicians for seamless continuation of care.
What this means for you

You leave Bali with a discharge letter, a care plan, and a team who knows you. The Continuum means that team does not disappear. Two Medical Doctors remain jointly responsible for your wellbeing – not just available if something goes wrong, but actively, structurally present throughout. Your Western psychotherapy and Eastern somatic practice continue in genuine clinical relationship, governed by the same hands that held your retreat.

"The retreat plants the seed. The Continuum tends the garden."
